Enjoy collaboration in GNOME translations

My goal is to start a series of articles describing what Damn Lies about GNOME is and how could people use it’s new collaboration features. This article wants to be an introduction to the new Damn Lies website.
This year had an excellent start for GNOME translations. As you might now, or you will find now, Damn lies about GNOME is enjoying a major improvement with the integration of Vertimus.
Now it even more easier to help translate GNOME into your language and collaborate with the other people translating or reviewing translations.
Start by creating an account on the new GNOME translation collaboration webtool. As far as I know there are some problems with delegated openID authentication and I recommend to stick to the old good username/password credentials.
After you have your account, edit your profile so that other people will know how to contact you, and then add yourself as a translator for the teams appointed to your languages.
When you are done visit a specific team page. You can see the list of team in which your are a translators on your profile page in the “Team membership” lists.
On each team’s page, just in the previous version, you will see who is coordinating the team, a link to the list of bugs assigned to this team and an overview for current translation status.
The news is that now you will see a list of people working on translating GNOME for that language together with their roles.
Translators
Translators are all people willing to help in translating GNOME into a specific language and who added themselves to the translation team.
Translators could add comment to a specific PO file, could reserve it for translations and could upload a translated PO file so that it could be check by the other team members.
Reviewers
Reviewers are GNOME translators which were assigned by the team coordinator to review translations files uploaded in the web interface (by translators, reviews or committers).
They could perform all actions available to a translators with the addition of some reviewing task (ex reserve a po file for proofreading).
Committers
Are people with a GNOME SVN account and which could commit the changes into GNOME. Unless a translations is not commited by a commiter, it will only remain visible in the Damn Lies web interface, as an attached po file. They could perform all action of a reviewer with the addition of taging a po file as commited.
As a member of a team I suggest joining the team mailing list. By doing so you will receive a notification for all action performed by other team members. If it is not so, please fill a bug (as far as a I know now all teams have this feature enabled).
PS: I’m not involved with the development of Damn Lies and as I could not find on online documentation for the new features I start writing this text. Please give feedback and maybe we could start a wiki documentation on GNOME Live!.

I’m just at the start of contributing for GNOME.

You should make a request to be aggregated there at least for this article series. People following upstream Gnome development would probably be interested as well.

Your post is really nice, I’m really happy that someone explains the new features of new Damned Lies.
