Jaunty Ubuntu Docs - Translation Status and Errors
Posted by Adi | Filed under English, Free Software, Planet GNOME, Planet Ubuntu
Ubuntu Docs gained some great improvement over this release cycle, especially the Internet section, and as a consequence translators are happy
to make that work available in their languages.
I have created the XML and HTML files containing the latest translations for Jaunty Ubuntu Docs. They can be found here: http://l10n.ubuntu.tla.ro/ubuntu-docs-jaunty/.
You can use HTML files as a preview for the ubuntu-docs and to see if all the translated strings makes sense now that they are put together. You will also find an error report that should help you fix broken tags.
I will try to update the page on a weakly basis and starting with the next week I will also include the kubuntu/xubuntu and edubuntu docs. Meanwhile I am happy to get suggestions about how we could improve these pages.

Adi, that looks great, thanks for the work. Let’s hope that those translators with broken translations are able to fix them!
Some suggestions for the presentation of the index page. At the moment I think it would benefit greatly from being simplified. Let’s think about the important information that translators need to know. I think there are only two:
1. How many po files are missing?
2. How many (and which) xml files contain errors?
I think the index page could be presented simply with these two pieces of information, so for example:
ru - 19/19 po files present / 6 with errors
sco - 1/19 po files present / 0 with errors
The first can be a link to the po report (which should give links to the actual po files), and the second can be a link to the xml report (which should give links to the actual xml files and html printout).
Do you think that would simplify things a bit?

yes. I think that your suggestion is very good.
I have updated the page. Now I was thinking that it can be helpful to track the progress of error from one update to another.
